We sadly need to re home Rio due to a change of circumstance in our family status and location.
Rio is a male dog aged 5, he is a cross between Staffie and Old English bulldog.
Rio does not live with children or other pets.
Rio loves to be taken for walks, and is keen to play and interact in the home and garden i.e. balls, bubbles, garden hose etc. Off lead, we need to monitor Rio. However, Rio will not go far. He also loves to go in the car.
Rio is very well house trained. He will chill but be active if instigated by us and will indicate if he wants play or cuddles. He can stay home alone happily for up to 6 hours. He eats twice a day. He sleeps well in his bed and knows prohibited areas in the home i.e. upstairs and some furniture. He loved to sit by the window (but will bark often).
Rio is protective and will bark when people approach the home. He sometimes ‘guards’ objects. This is random and Rio is easily distracted.
Rio is boisterous and excited when people visit the home. He will bark and jump up. This is managed with instruction (sit, gentle etc.),and treats, and Rio will calm.
Rio weighs approx. 50kg, he is on a raw diet (Pro dog, just under 1 kg per day, split between am and pm) with some kibble. He loves cooked meat treats and cheese.
In the wider community Rio walks well on lead but is sometime triggered (will bark and lunge) by dislikes including motorbikes and mobility scooters. However, this is not consistent.
Rio was socialised with other dogs but was over boisterous for play. He is not familiar with children or other animals.
Rio is in good health and his jabs, worming and flea are up to date. He is neutered and micro-chipped. He is registered with a vet.
Rio has an allergy in the spring and sometimes develops a rash on his tummy. He has natural anti itch treats which clear this.
Rio is a lovable and loved family pet. However, due to his large stance, he can appear intimidating to others. This needs to be managed.
